I was 14 when I met my husband, 18 when we got married. That was nearly 28 years ago and, as you put it, I can't imagine my life without him. I've never wanted to meet other people, I know what I feel now is the same as what I felt then and if it's not 'love', I don't care because it's what works for me. Maybe the same goes for you student, maybe it won't but either way , I hope she's made the right choice for her and that she's happy
